Cervical cancer is cancer of the cervix. It is caused by different types of viruses. Cervical cancer is more commonly found in women under the age of 30 who are sexually active. According to the National Cancer Institute, there were 11,270 new cases of cervical cancer  and 4,070 deaths caused by cervical cancer in 2009.  Cervical cancer can normally be detected through a pap smear test performed by a gynecologist.
